UGLE Programme

Universities' Scheme

Connecting students and university members with Freemasonry through a dedicated national programme.

About the Scheme

The "Universities' Scheme of the United Grand Lodge of Antient Free & Accepted Freemasons of England," to give it its full title, was established in 2005 under the authority of the Board of General Purposes of the United Grand Lodge of England.

The primary objective of the Scheme is to establish and enhance opportunities for undergraduates and other university members to join and enjoy Freemasonry.

Key Aims

In collaboration with the relevant Metropolitan, Provincial, or District Grand Master, the Scheme aims to:

  • 1.Identify and support suitable Lodges in university towns, like Salisbury Union Lodge, that wish to welcome and develop undergraduate and postgraduate students.
  • 2.Receive and further develop Brethren who were initiated as students, helping them advance in their Masonic careers.
  • 3.Provide oversight, support, and training for Scheme Lodges as deemed necessary by the Scheme Committee.
  • 4.Foster cooperation between Scheme Lodges and their regional Grand Lodges through meetings and conferences.
